2019 Audi Q8

The Q8 is another fresh addition to Audi's SUV family, first revealed in early 2017 at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, though in concept form. Between that concept and a number of spy shots, we can expect the Q8 to look much like the brand's existing lineup, though with a noticeably more angular nose. If you really want a brash, bold SUV design, take a look at the RS Q8. We can safely assume this model will feature exclusive and aggressive styling touches to complement its increased performance. We're still in speculation mode, but we'll be looking for the Q8 and RS Q8 late next year, with price tags around the low six-figure range.

2019/2020 Aston Martin DBX

The DBX is a late entry to the super-luxury crossover market, but we can't really blame Aston Martinfor holding out. Of course, the reason for the DBX is pure business; the brand admits it's being designed specifically to appeal to women. Male buyers will still be satisfied with typical Aston touches such as torquey V8 and V12 engines (with hybrid and electric powertrains to follow), stopping power from massive carbon-ceramic brakes, and sumptuous interior options. We're not yet sure if the DBX will be part of the 2019 model year — estimates place its arrival anytime between late 2018 and early 2020. We won't even speculate on pricing just yet.

2019 Aston Martin Valkyrie

Here's a more traditional new model from Aston Martin. The company calls the Valkyrie the "ultimate hypercar," and lest you assume that's hyperbole, the car is actually a collaboration with Formula One's Red Bull Racing team. The Valkyrie was announced in spring of 2016, and its final design (more or less) was revealed this July. Despite its focus on functionality, the Valkyrie is completely over the top. With gullwing doors, extensive use of carbon fiber throughout the cabin, and a 6.5-liter V12 engine, the $3 million price tag should be no surprise. All 150 road and 25 track examples slated for production have been claimed.

2019 Audi A6 Avant render

The Audi A6 Avant may well be one of the most successful wagons on the market, at least in terms of longevity. Audi's long lifecycle works in its favor and against it: The silhouette is classic and easily recognizable, but rarely perceived as bold or daring. That may change with the next-generation Avant, which was revealed at the Geneva Motor Show in 2015 in concept form. We can only speculate on its design based on the concept, but we expect a more modern, svelte profile with plenty of cues from Audi's latest design language. The next Audi A6 sedan will be released in 2018, and the Avant will arrive in dealerships the following year.

2019 Audi E-Tron Quattro

Audi has been a little more candid about the upcoming E-Tron Quattro, although this electric crossover is new territory for the brand. This supposed Tesla-fighter is expected to have a range of about 311 miles, thanks to a battery pack paired with three electric motors. Two of the motors are placed in back and one is up front, providing the brand's signature Quattro all-wheel drive. Expected output for this drivetrain is 435 horsepower. The E-Tron Quattro begins production in 2018, and a Sportback version will be available later in the model's lifecycle. Audi also plans to develop an electric compact and sedan in the coming years.

2019 Audi Q3

Thanks to the addition of the all-new Audi Q2, the Q3 was recently promoted from the entry-level spot in the brand's crossover lineup. For that reason, we expect the redesigned Q3 to grow a bit over the outgoing generation, and recent spy shots appear to confirm this theory. Other expectations for the upcoming Q3 include improved interior dimensions, a range of engine choices borrowed from existing Audi models, and plug-in hybrid and electric options to round out the lineup. Look for the redesigned Q3 sometime in late 2018. Pricing is not yet available, but will almost certainly open with a relatively affordable front-wheel-drive trim level.

2019 Audi Q4

It would be hard to argue that Audi's SUV lineup — Q3, Q5, and Q7 — offered too few choices for some potential buyers. Audi, apparently, disagreed, and that's why the all-new Q4 is on the way. This crossover was designed to compete against the BMW X2 and will slot into the lineup between the redesigned Q3 and the existing Q5. So, what does the Q4 offer that Audi had previously been lacking? It's hard to say, since it hasn't yet been revealed. The fresh design should be a bit sportier than the current lineup, which we can infer from other recently-revealed new Audis, and the engine choices will almost certainly be familiar. Look for the new 2019 Audi Q4 sometime next year, with a price somewhere between the Audi Q3 and Q5.

2019 Bentley Continental GT

The Bentley Continental GT is long overdue for an overhaul, not that anyone really seemed to mind. Exterior changes are extremely subtle; even though the platform is several inches longer than the outgoing model, the new front and rear lighting stand out the most. The cabin features the usual Bentley amenities: glossy wood, ultra-plush leather, and electronics more modern than you'd think possible. The latest version of Bentley's 6.0-liter W12 engine sits between the fenders, putting down 626 horsepower and 664 pound-feet of torque, yet is more efficient thanks to a stop-start system and cylinder deactivation under light load. Pricing will be available closer to the Continental GT's launch in the summer of 2018.

2019 BMW 3 Series

The 3 Series is BMW's best-selling vehicle, and the current generation is a little complacent about that status. BMW has hinted that the forthcoming 3 Series will push styling boundaries, and recent spy shots appear to confirm that claim. The characteristic "angel eye" headlights make a return, but in a more angular design, and the camouflage reveals a bold grille. We can also expect interior updates to help BMW regain some of the ground it's lost to recent entries in this class, and engine options curated from the rest of the brand's lineup. The high-performance M3 will be back, too. Look for the redesigned 3 Series in mid-2018, with pricing similar to the current generation.

2019 BMW i5

The BMW i lineup of electric vehicles is small and strange, consisting of the i3 city hatchback and the i8 supercar. The upcoming i5 aims to take the brand's EV family from niche to mainstream by providing enough capacity to be capable of family duty. The i5 will be fully electric with an expected 200 miles of range; like the i3, a small gasoline engine will be added to a range-extender model. The i5's design and styling are merely speculative at this point, but we're thinking along the lines of the BMW i Vision Dynamics concept, a functional yet fanciful sedan reminiscent of the 4 Series Gran Coupe. For extra visual interest, we'd like to see high-contrast accents similar to those on the i3 and i8. Pricing and availability aren't yet known.

2019 BMW X4

Dramatic changes are coming to the BMW X4, a crossover that the company prefers to call a "sport activity coupe." The X4 is similar to the X3 in size and features, but trades the traditional SUV silhouette for a fastback-like design. That basic design won't change for 2019, but the roofline is now more aggressive, which results in a more athletic look. As usual, several trim levels will be available, based on engine preference; the x30i and M40d models will feature a turbocharged inline-six 3.0-liter unit and an as-yet-unidentified turbodiesel, respectively. The redesigned X4 should be available sometime next year, with pricing in line with the current generation.

2019 Chevrolet Corvette

The 2019 Corvette will mark the beginning of the C8 generation, but it will coexist with the current C7 generation for at least a couple of years. That's because the C8 is a redesign of sorts, but also dramatically different: this is the long-awaited mid-engine Corvette. We expect the latest 'Vette to be offered with the choice of two gasoline engines and one hybrid engine, and the option of coupe, targa, or glass roof styles. We'll know more about the 2019 Corvette in January, including pricing, after its formal introduction at the Detroit Auto Show. Sales are scheduled for later in 2018.

2019 Chevrolet Silverado/GMC Sierra

Though we've seen spy shots of the upcoming Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra, we still have little insight into these platform siblings' actual changes and updates. We do know that GM has incorporated more aluminum into the design, to help save weight, and improved aerodynamics will also contribute to better efficiency. Potential engine lineups are still under wraps, but we expect the 10-speed automatic transmission from the Camaro ZL1 to make an appearance. More details will be available after a formal auto show reveal sometime in 2018, and the trucks will go on sale in early 2018. Pricing is not yet available, but probably won't be too far off the current models.

2019 Chrysler Portal

Chrysler is planning to test the waters in the EV market with a family-oriented hatchback that offers about 250 miles of range. The Portal concept made its debut at the Consumer Electronics Show, rather than at one of the major auto shows. It's a subtle but important distinction; the debut was less about the vehicle itself and more about the interesting technology that distinguishes the concept from other small electric cars. These include gesture recognition and a facial recognition system that enables the Portal to recognize its passengers. Of course, some of these features might be delayed or omitted altogether if, and when, the car reaches production, which the brand says is currently slated for "sometime after 2018." 2019 Ford Focus

Ford's planning a move upscale with the next generation of the Focus, and we are eager to see if it works. Spy photos hint at a design that takes aim at entry-level luxury compacts, and we expect to see a more tech-focused cabin to help support this new strategy. We don't yet know the engine lineup, but Ford's peppy and efficient EcoBoost options are a safe bet. Look for the redesigned Focus in sedan, hatchback, and wagon (in Europe only) form next year; when you read that it's landed in Europe, it'll be a few more months before we see it here. Pricing is expected to be in line with the current model.

2019 Ford Ranger

The revival of the Ford Ranger shows that the compact/midsize pickup market is heating up; it's still a small percentage of truck sales, but an opportunity that Ford can't sacrifice. This will be the first Ranger in the U.S. since 2011, and the pickup class has enjoyed some interesting new innovations since then. Look for efficient engine options from Ford's EcoBoost lineup, as well as the rugged Wildtrak model. Pricing is expected to start in the $25,000 range, to be in line with existing competition from Chevy and GMC. The Ranger will be built in Michigan and should debut sometime next year.

2019 Genesis G70

Throughout this list, you're going to read about a lot of vehicles for which the best we can provide is educated guesswork. The Genesis G70 is a significant exception to that rule, because we've already driven it. This sedan marks the third addition to the Genesis brand's Stateside lineup, following the G80 and G90, and based on our early experience, it's a good one. The G70 is modern, stylish, and comfortable. Powertrain options are a 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder and a twin-turbo 3.3-liter V6, both eager and up to the task. The eight-speed automatic transmission is smooth, and handling is refined. The Genesis G70 arrives early next year, with pricing yet to be determined.

2019 Hyundai Veloster

It's safe to suggest that the first generation of the Hyundai Veloster fell a little short of expectations; the sporty-styled compact hatchback was more fun to look at than it was to drive, and sales figures reflected its shortcomings. The next generation of the Veloster is expected to arrive in 2018, and we are hoping the high-performance Veloster N model also makes the trip from South Korea. If so, it would likely be powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine borrowed from Hyundai models we don't get Stateside, like the exciting i30 N, which can be programmed for 250 or 275 horsepower. Finally, the Veloster might live up to its potential. No word on pricing yet, but stay tuned.

2019 Jeep Wrangler

We're looking forward to the next Wrangler, which will be arriving for the 2019 model year along with two exciting new additions to the lineup: the Wrangler pickup and a new diesel model. The diesel powerplant is still just a rumor at this point, but it's been talked about so much that we'll be surprised if it turns out we've been misled. We expect to see an official reveal of the next-gen Wrangler later this year or early next year, and should know more then.

2019 Jeep Wrangler Pickup

The next generation of the Jeep Wrangler is on the way, and a long-rumored pickup truck version is also expected for 2019. There's plenty of speculation that this model might be called the Scrambler, since Jeep renewed its rights to the name a couple years ago; beyond that, it's hard to separate fact, fiction, and wishful thinking. We do know the pickup will be built in Jeep's Ohio plant, there will be a variety of powertrain offerings, and the pickup will follow the Wrangler tradition of being offered with both soft- and hard-top configurations Stay tuned for more information when the Wrangler pickup makes its official debut next year.

2019 Lamborghini Urus

The Urus is yet another addition to the exclusive realm of high-performance luxury crossovers. Lamborghini first teased the Urus in concept form way back in 2012, and has been stringing us along ever since by carefully parceling out the details. This SUV stands out from the crowd with a shark-like nose reminiscent of the brand's bold sports cars, rounding out to a smoother, more subtle rear. Motivation comes from a 4.0-liter biturbo V8 engine, estimated to be good for about 650 horsepower. At some point, we'll see a plug-in hybrid model, too. The Urus is scheduled to land this December and will have a price tag of about $200,000.

2019 Land Rover Defender

Though the upcoming Land Rover Defender is technically a redesign, this SUV has traditionally been off-limits to American fans. Land Rover has suggested the next Defender will make its way across the Atlantic, which makes it feel like the debut of an all-new model. The new Defender will be built on a unibody platform borrowed from Range Rover, but will still be offered in two- and four-door body styles. Engines will come from the existing Land Rover range, which start at 180 horsepower for a four-cylinder diesel and go up to 296 horsepower for a tuned version of a turbocharged 2.0-liter. Pricing and scheduling are still under wraps.

2019 Lexus UX

First, we'll note that a 2019 arrival for the Lexus UX is merely speculation based on what little we know. This compact crossover first appeared in concept form during the 2016 Paris Motor Show; since then, Lexus has confirmed a few things: It's targeted toward younger buyers and it'll take the entry-level slot in the lineup below the NX. We're wondering if Lexus plans to maintain the bold body lines that helped make the concept so distinctive — squint and it actually looks a bit like the Toyota C-HR, except more lux. Engines will likely be borrowed from the NX, with pricing set to compete against the likes of the Audi Q3 and BMW X1.

2019 Lincoln MKX

The MKX hasn't captured much market share in the midsize crossover segment, but the 2019 model should get some attention. We don't know much about it, but heavily camouflaged spy shots hint at a restyled front end and new lighting treatments. A new one-piece grille appears to be inspired by the Continental, and once the camo wraps are off, we'll probably see a lot more touches that visually tie the MKX to Lincoln's latest models. We'll have more information about the restyled MKX sometime next year.

2019 McLaren Hypercar

Previously known by the codename BP23, the latest McLaren is much of the same, only better. It features a three-seat configuration similar to that of the McLaren F1, and extensive use of carbon fiber ensures a light curb weight. A new hybrid engine will provide the power, but details are scarce. Only 106 examples of this new McLaren will be built, and they've all been claimed despite a price tag of about $2.5 million. The application process was open only to previous McLaren customers who could swing a five-figure deposit. Stay tuned for more details on this car that you'll probably never see, much less drive or buy.

2019 Mercedes-AMG C63 R

We've been talking and thinking about the Mercedes-AMG C63 R for months, but we're still short on some key details. We do know that this coupe was developed to top the Mercedes-AMG C63 range, which means it needs to beat the 503-horsepower C63. That's easy enough; Mercedes-AMG can borrow the powertrain from the all-wheel drive, 603-horsepower E63 S. The anticipated 2019 model year arrival is based on media conjecture, but hasn't yet been confirmed. We expect the C63 R to start at about $100,000.

2019 Mercedes-AMG GT Sedan

The next couple years will be busy for Mercedes-AMG, and the GT sedan is one of the brand's most eagerly anticipated new models. The GT sedan will use the platform from the E-Class lineup, which keeps the wheelbase short while allowing enough space for four passengers to sit reasonably comfortably. The first models off the line will get Mercedes' biturbo V8 engine, and a hybrid model will roll out at a later date. The GT sedan is scheduled for its public debut at the Detroit Auto Show early next year, and we'll know more about pricing then. Production starts next summer, so the first GT sedans should hit the streets in late 2018 or early 2019.

2019 Mercedes-AMG Project One

Though the Mercedes-AMG Project One hypercar is hotly anticipated, it's still taking heat for an exterior design than some think is way too bland. Regardless of our personal feelings about the car's styling, we still can't wait to see it in action. Projected 0-60 time is 2.5 seconds, courtesy of a 1.6-liter turbo V6 mated to four electric motors. Horsepower checks in at an even 1,000, and top speed is 217 mph. We'll see the production version of the Project One sometime in 2019. Pricing is expected to be in the $2.5 million range – though it's rumored all 275 copies are already sold-out.

2019 Nissan Altima

Spy shots reveal that the next generation of the Nissan Altima is heavily inspired by the company's V-Motion 2.0 Concept, which is exactly what we expected. Like the most recent redesign of the Maxima, the Altima moves from bland to bold with plenty of corners and creases, particularly in the front end. Nissan's keeping the Altima's engine options under wraps for now, but we expect a formal reveal sometime next year, and will tell you more about power and pricing as soon as we know.

2019 Porsche Cayenne

Yes, a new generation of the Porsche Cayenne. Still very pretty, and still very powerful. Two models will be available at launch. The Cayenne makes 340 horsepower from its turbo 3.0-liter V6, while the Cayenne S yields 440 horsepower from its 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6. Both models come with all-wheel drive and a new eight-speed Tiptronic transmission. The 2019 Cayenne will bring something a little unexpected, too: compatibility with certain smart home systems. This enables the Cayenne to be connected around the clock and provide real-time data via the infotainment system. Can't wait for the new Cayenne? Orders will be accepted this December, with deliveries starting next summer. The Cayenne starts at $66,750 and the Cayenne S starts at $83,950.

2019 Porsche Mission E

The next all-new Porsche to join the lineup will be the Tesla-fighting Mission E. This electric sedan will look a lot like the concept shown at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show, but EV technology has changed considerably in those two precious years. The Mission E will be available with different power outputs, reminiscent of the Porsche 911 lineup though also a clear nod to the Tesla Model S. Speed and horsepower are everything in luxury cars, and EVs also add range to that equation, so it's hard to avoid such a comparison. The Mission E is slated for debut sometime in 2019, at a starting price of around $85,000.

2019 Ram 1500

The Ram 1500, one of the best-selling pickups in the United States, is ready for a makeover. Yet Ramplans to take the traditional route of steel construction rather than following its competitors to the brave new world of aluminum. The hood and tailgate will be made of the lighter-weight material, but the frame and the rest of the body panels prioritize strength over efficiency. The cabin will get updated tech, and buyers will have new cargo management options. We expect the Ram's existing V6 and V8 engines to carry over with mild tweaks, and there might be a new hybrid option in the works. Look for more information, including pricing, after the Detroit Auto Show in January.

2019 Range Rover Velar SVR

For 2019, Jaguar's SVR nameplate gains a bit more breadth. The company is expanding its high-performance lineup with a new version of the Range Rover Velar. The Velar is fresh off the production line for 2018, but spy shots of the Velar SVR reveal significant changes, such as an aggressive body kit, a sportier stance, and larger wheels to accommodate bigger brakes. The SVR has to outperform the regular Velar, and we think the rumored 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine is well up to the task. We'll be looking for the Velar SVR's official launch sometime in 2018, with an estimated price tag of about $115,000.

2019 Rolls-Royce Project Cullinan

Rolls-Royce is the latest luxury automaker to throw a crossover into the ring, even if it isn't eager to call the model by that name. According to Rolls, the all-new Project Cullinan is less an SUV, more a long and tall luxury car that just so happens to have off-road capability. In typical Rolls-Royce fashion, the vehicle can't be judged against the competition if there is no competition, right? Look for the Cullinan sometime in 2018, although the name is likely to change. We estimate pricing in the mid-six figures, considering the Cullinan is larger than the Rolls-Royce Wraith (same length, taller body) and borrows the Phantom's V12 engine.

2019 Tesla Pickup

A lot of people are talking about the upcoming Tesla pickup, but there's not much to go on. It's more than mere speculation, considering that Tesla has actually confirmed it. Conversation is based on a few tweets that company head Elon Musk sent this spring, indicating that we can expect a Tesla pickup unveiling sometime in the next two years. If Tesla sticks to this schedule, we'll know more about the Tesla truck by April 2019 at the latest. We're skeptical that it'll make the 2019 model year, but can't resist including it in this roundup.

A fully redesigned Corolla is on the way with new architecture and a new (but still unknown) engine lineup. It'll be based on the same global platform as the Camry, Prius, and C-HR, which will provide a sharper ride and improved handling. Typically, Toyota follows the "bland is better" approach when it comes to the Corolla's styling, but we wouldn't be surprised if some interesting new elements appeared, perhaps inspired by the recently redesigned Camry or the new C-HR. 2019 Tesla Roadster

The Roadster is a familiar name to those who have followed Tesla's evolution, but the long-awaited successor isn't a redesign of the old car, which consisted of early Tesla powerplants installed in Lotus bodies. Better to think of this ground-up design as something new entirely. This two-seater will probably be quite a bit smaller and lighter than current Tesla models, so we have high hopes for its performance capabilities. The Tesla Roadster has long been expected to go into production sometime in 2019, but anyone who's even the slightest bit familiar with the brand should know that, while Tesla is good at many things, meeting production schedules is not one of them.

2019 Toyota Supra

The long-awaited arrival of the Toyota Supra is finally within reach. We first learned that this storied nameplate would be revived in 2016, when a partnership between Toyota and BMW was announced. Experts speculated then that the new Supra could look a lot like the Toyota FT-1 concept that was introduced in 2014, a prediction that turned out to be pretty accurate. Official renderings reveal that this sleek sports coupe incorporates plenty of aggressive touches, such as a sharp nose, a large spoiler, and massive brake ducts. A rear-wheel-drive configuration is more likely than not, and we also expect a couple of BMW-sourced engine choices. The Supra is expected to arrive sometime in 2018, with a price tag that starts around $50,000.

2019 Volvo XC40

Volvo is adding another option to the crowded compact crossover market, but we know more about the new XC40 than we know about most of its competitors. This lovely new luxury SUV slots below the XC60 and carries over a lot of its features and styling elements. However, the XC40 definitely has a personality of its own. It's more angular and aggressive than other Volvo SUVs, yet maintains the brand's signature refinement. Fans of Volvo's stylish, tech-heavy interiors will be pleased. Although the XC40 is slated for the 2019 model year, it's already up on Volvo's site and production begins in November, which hints that it'll be available in early 2018. Pricing starts at $35,200.
